ORLANDO, Fla. – Jan. 25, 2008 – With green and orange “Vote Yes On 1” signs raised high, Florida Realtors greeted Gov. Charlie Crist this morning with a standing ovation, thanking Crist for his efforts to cut property taxes. The governor addressed Realtors attending the Florida Association of Realtors®’ (FAR) Mid-Winter Business Meetings in Orlando.
“You’re about to make history on Tuesday,” Crist said to a packed room. “When was the last time you could go to the ballot box and pass yourself a tax cut? It’s giddy up time. Tell everyone you see [to vote for Amendment 1]. It’s critical to Florida’s economy.”
After speaking to the Realtors, Crist departed for Tampa, Miami and other parts of the state to urge voters to approve Amendment 1 in Tuesday’s primary.
The governor’s remarks followed a Presidential Candidate Forum with speeches made by presidential candidates’ representatives: Karen Thurman, chairperson of the Florida Democratic Party; Fla. Sen. Daniel Webster, who spoke on behalf of GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee; U.S. Sen. Bill McCollum on behalf of GOP candidate Rudy Giuliani; former Lt. Gov. of Massachusetts Kerry Murphy Healey on behalf of GOP candidate Mitt Romney; and former U.S. Congressman Jack Kemp on behalf of GOP candidate John McCain.
