I was dismayed at how much money I was spending on my homeowners insurance, as I am sure many others are as well. Recently I read about insurance mitigation. This is something I had never heard about, so I looked into it a bit. Basically, many of us are paying way too much for our insurance and just don’t know it, as I was.

Hi. everyone. This is is Mary G. I had a car accident June 30, at 9:00 pm at night on US1 and Marlin Road. Just came from the Beauty Parlor at Southland Mall. I stopped by CVS to pick up one item and thought I'd stop by Wendy's to get a snack. Unfortunately, I never made it to Wendy's. Attempting to make a left turn from Marlin to head north, a speeding corolla hit me at the intersection and kept on going. Fortunately, I am alive to tell the story. This partially explains my absence from cyberspace. We also had the Fourth of July, Independence Day Celebration.

Hi, this is Mary G. again. I was reading RAMB's blog about free wind inspection that may save Home Owners money on their insurance policies. I hope this will help me as well. I called this morning to make an appointment and I am patiently waiting for someone to call me back SOON! I have been insured with Liberty Mutual for at least 10 years and I recently received a letter saying that they will not renew my Homeowners Policy when it expires in a couple of months. Just the thought is soooo scary.
I will let you readers know what happens as soon as I know how this Wind Inspection will help me with my new policy with another company. Stay Dry! L8R.

This means these homeowners HAVE to complete the windstorm mitgation inspection prior to selling their homes.
And... Starting in 2011, ALL homes in windborne debris regions (ALL VALUES and ALL INSURANCE CARRIERS) MUST disclose this rating at closing.

A measure to use $250 million from the reserves accumulated by the state-run insurer to fund a capital buildup program for young and start-up insurers easily passed the Florida House Thursday.
Citizens Property Insurance is relying on these funds to pay future claims. Though initially, the bill proposed taking money from the insurer, the version approved Thursday would have the money returned to Citizens over a 20-year period as the companies repay the surplus notes.

Recently, I hired Jay Schwartz, President of Coast To Coast Home Services, Inc to perform a Mitigation Inspection on three of my properties located in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale areas. The inspection cost $150.00 per property and Jay guarantees that if you do not get a minimum $150.00 reduction in your insurance premium he will refund you your fee, so there is no risk.
